TRIA President, Rick Olson, shares his insights and technical updates on current projects in the pipeline as of July 2025:

TRIA Advances Energy Research
The TRI TRECS study is providing valuable data on the performance of roofing tiles compared to shingles and metal. By demonstrating the heat load path through the roof assembly to the conditioned space below, this study is set to revolutionize the way energy calculators treat steep slope roofing. You can learn more about our TRECS Study updates here.

TRIA Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual
We are excited to announce the updated 2025-2026 IAPMO Code approval for the TRI Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual. The March 2024 Uniform ES-ER-2015, revised in May 2025, is now available for download on the TRIA website under Industry Resources. As the only steep-slope installation manual with a code-issued evaluation report, it provides essential guidance to contractors and building officials, ensuring proper installation of concrete and clay roofing tiles in compliance with building codes.www.tileroofing.org/installation-guides

TRIA Best Practices
In an effort to improve long-term roof performance and align with updated roofing practices, the TRIA technical team is finalizing the new Best Practice Manual for Concrete and Clay Roof Tile. This document will serve as a key resource for additional certification training, insurance company adoption, and builder/owner education to promote better installation practices for our concrete and clay roofing tiles.
