On July 16, 2025, the Tile Roofing Industry Alliance signed a letter to U.S. Senators Adam Schiff and Tim Sheehy supporting S. 1323, the Facilitating Increased Resilience, Environmental Weatherization And Lowered Liability (FIREWALL) Act.
The FIREWALL Act would provide a tax credit covering 50% of eligible home upgrades up to $25,000 for joint filers making less than $200,000 a year ($12,500 for individuals) with a phase-out up to $300,000. Examples of eligible upgrades include fire resistant building materials and roofing, storm water barriers, air filtration, and the removal of vegetation posing a risk to the home. The credit would also be adjusted for inflation starting in 2026 and be fully refundable. TRIA believes the disaster-mitigation function of fire- and wind-resistant roofs can play an important role in stabilizing and most likely lowering homeowner insurance costs. Building material resilience is key to resolving mitigation issues and, for these reasons, the TRI Alliance supports and endorses the FIREWALL Act, S. 1323. TRIA's full letter in support of the FIREWALL Act can be read here. For more information on the TRIA Alliance and our Government Relations efforts, please visit our website at www.tileroofing.org.
