Tile Roofing Industry Alliance Lobbyist, Craig Brightup, has provided the latest government relations update and activities on the following from March 2025:
TRIA DC Fly-In Our TRIA Delegation is comprised of 15 members we have put together a TRIA Backgrounder and Issues Summary for our Fly-In meetings. As a one-pager, it should be well received by Capitol Hill staff for its succinctness and awareness of where we are in DC right now. To that point, the reconciliation bill (the “one big, beautiful bill”) is dominating all in DC and is being assembled by Republicans to be passed by Republicans. House Passes CR House Republicans passed a Continuing Resolution 217-213 on March 11 to extend FY24 government funding through Sept. 30 with some nondefense spending shifted to defense and border enforcement. The Senate passed the CR after Democrat resistance folded and it was signed by President Trump on March 15. Passing the CR was crucial to giving Republicans time to assemble a reconciliation bill to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, etc. DOL Confirmations and Nominations
Faster Labor Contracts Act TRIA and NRCA signed a letter to Congress opposing the Faster Labor Contracts Act introduced by Republican Sens. Hawley (MO) and Moreno (OH), and Democrat Sens. Peters (MI) and Merkley (OR). Corporate Transparency Act Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) paused CTA enforcement while revising regulations for reporting requirements. TRIA signed a letter to Treasury Sec. Bessent supporting the reg revisions.
